This webinar covers the following:

1. Understanding the EU Data Act: This Act has just been formally adopted and is likely to come into force this year. It represents a seismic shift in data regulation, impacting how data generated by connected devices may be accessed by customers (both companies and individuals) and may be passed on to third parties (also competitors). Learn whether this data sharing obligation also includes trade secrets and what you– as device manufacturer or customer – will need to do to reap benefits from the Data Act. Learn how this could transform data sharing and the competitive dynamics in your sector.

2. Deciphering the Data Governance Act: This Act has been in force since late September. It aims, on one hand, to make it easier for public sector bodies to exchange data with the private sector, unlocking new business opportunities. But it also sets the stage for a secured data-sharing environment, crucial for sectors like Life Sciences, where data integrity and security are paramount. It outlines the mechanisms for data sharing and governance in order to ensure trust and compliance in sensitive areas such as patient data.

3. Zooming in on data sharing in the DSA/DMA: DSA and DMA aim to create a safer digital space where the fundamental rights of users are protected. DMA imposes harmonised rules to prevent unfair or unethical behaviour by the major digital platforms that control access to the digital market (gatekeepers). It notably creates rules to foster data sharing between gatekeepers and the businesses users and allow third parties to inter-operate with the gatekeeper’s own services. For professional users of online platforms more information is now available for them. Thanks to the transparency principle, the DSA gives access to new commercial and technical data, including algorithms for ranking and grading purposes. Such valuable data can be decisive growth drivers.

4. US perspective: We discuss how the Data Act impacts US companies.

5. Interactive Q&A Session: Listen to our expert panel answer the live audience's questions.
