Over the past year, Simmons & Simmons has advised on a range of significant Irish M&A transactions. David Brangam, Head of Corporate at Simmons & Simmons in Ireland, commented: “The deals that we led on in 2025 reflect our true sectoral expertise across and within our global offering. This is perfectly illustrated by the number of cross-border, regulated deals that we led on for our clients in, through and out of Ireland.”
Digital infrastructure has been a key area of activity in Ireland, and Simmons & Simmons advised on three of the most noteworthy deals in this space, spanning data centres, telecoms towers, and fibre: BT on the sale of its Irish data centre business to Equinix; Ancala Partners on their acquisition of the TorLoc towers portfolio from PTI; and BT on the sale of its Irish wholesale fibre business to Speed Fibre Group.
Private equity continues to be a major driver of M&A activity in Ireland. In addition to advising PE clients such as Kester and Tenzing, our Irish team has acted for sellers across our key sectors on PE-backed investments from, and disposals to, TA Associates, MML, Andera Partners, Cordiant, and Quintas Capital.
Looking ahead to 2026, Micheál Mulvey, Corporate Partner at Simmons & Simmons in Ireland, noted: “We anticipate robust activity in the Irish M&A market next year, particularly in the area of digital infrastructure, which continues to attract strong domestic and international investment. We also expect to see a further increase in multi-jurisdictional transactions, as private equity buyers and sellers continue to seek opportunities that leverage Ireland’s position as a gateway to global markets. Our team looks forward to working with our clients to navigate these complex, cross-border deals in 2026.”
