Cyril Fiat focuses his practice on the structuring, formation and fundraising of private investment funds, advising both French and foreign fund managers.
With a strong international focus, he regularly represents fund managers in the formation and fundraising for French, international, and pan-European vehicles covering a wide range of strategies and asset classes, including buyouts, venture capital, infrastructure, private debt, and real estate. He also advises fund managers on secondary transactions (GP- or LP-led secondaries, continuation funds) or transactions involving their equity (GP stakes).
He also acts as counsel to institutional and private investors, as well as family offices, regarding their investments in private funds.
Finally, recognized as a leading expert in financial services and asset management regulation, Cyril also provides advice on compliance with European regulations, including AIFMD and MiFID as well as the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), the EU Taxonomy Regulation, and other ESG-related obligations.

Before joining Simmons & Simmons, he gained solid experience in financial services, fund formation, and fundraising through roles at leading international law firms. He also worked as in-house counsel for the World Bank in Washington, D.C., where he advised the World Bank’s pension fund on its investments in alternative assets and the negotiation of separately managed accounts.
