Calvin is a Supervising Associate in our Financial Markets department. He is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong and previously worked at regulatory authorities in Hong Kong and a leading global cryptocurrency exchange.

His practice focuses on advising on financial services regulatory issues and fintech/digital businesses. Calvin advises on a range of issues including licensing, regulatory compliance, conduct of business, terms and conditions, internal investigations, inspections, AML/KYC, market abuse, data privacy, cybersecurity and digitisation.

He advises international and regional banks, broker dealers, asset managers, listed companies, payment companies, insurers, digital asset service providers, crypto exchanges and their senior management.

Calvin previously worked at the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission in its Licensing, Investment Products and Enforcement Divisions, and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in its Enforcement Department. He worked at a top tier international law firm, advising clients on a variety of contentious and non-contentious financial regulatory matters. He also worked in-house at a leading global cryptocurrency exchange as the regulatory lead, mitigating regulatory risk across multiple jurisdictions and spearheading various crypto exchange licensing applications.

Calvin has advised clients in connection with multiple cross-border matters covering Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Calvin has also assisted financial industry bodies to respond to regulatory reform initiatives and assisted with their publications, including ASIFMA and AIMA.

Calvin speaks fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
