Tim is an international energy and infrastructure finance lawyer in our ENRIC group. He regularly acts for project sponsors and financiers (including DFIs and IFIs) in the areas of global energy, natural resources, export credit/trade and infrastructure development, with a particular regional focus on Europe, central/western Asia and Africa.

His experience includes advising:

  • on project, portfolio/platform financings (senior and junior) in the energy transition space (including advising the European Investment Bank and a club of commercial lenders on the financing of a solar portfolio of 15+ projects located in Italy, Spain and Portugal (European Power Deal of the Year, PFI Awards 2025));
  • on private public partnerships and infrastructure financings (including the Eurasia Tunnel project in Türkiye and Germany's first land-based LNG terminal (European LNG Deal of the Year, PFI Awards 2025));
  • financial institutions and export credit agencies on tied and untied export financings and other agency financings; and
  • on various other project developments and financings for solar, wind, green hydrogen, BESS, LNG, as well as transport and healthcare infrastructure projects.

Tim’s educational background includes degrees in law and business management/finance from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining Simmons & Simmons, Tim spent a number of years working at a magic circle law firm in London and Frankfurt. He is a fluent German speaker and can converse in basic Mandarin, having lived in Shanghai and Beijing for several years.
