During his civil engineering studies, Xiao specialized in Building Information Models (BIM) and completed his master’s thesis on planning Daimler’s factory in Beijing using BIM. As a technical consultant, he gained extensive expertise in telecommunications, focusing on FTTC, FTTH, and network infrastructure.
After initial experience in network planning for Deutsche Telekom, Xiao advanced his knowledge in patent law at University of Hagen. Since becoming a German patent attorney in June 2022, he has built substantial experience in computer-implemented inventions, telecommunications, and mechanical engineering. His practice encompasses patent application, opposition, and appeal proceedings before the EPO and GPTO, as well as nullity and infringement cases.
Xiao’s ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts, combined with his background in civil engineering and telecommunications, makes him particularly effective in handling patents related to telecommunications (4G & 5G), artificial intelligence (CNN), and medical devices (heart pumps). His experience across different technical fields allows him to approach patent prosecution with a broad and informed perspective.
