Andrea specialises in financial services law and regulation of alternative asset managers and funds.
Andrea’s practice focuses on all private fund regulatory matters (private equity, credit, infrastructure, real estate, hedge funds and other asset classes), including all aspects of “Retailisation” and global distribution to HNWIs and retail investors. His clients include some of the world’s largest alternative asset managers.
In addition to his broader practice, Andrea is regularly instructed by leading private fund sponsors to advise on the marketing and distribution of private and evergreen funds through the private wealth channel in Europe, the Middle East, APAC and Latin America. He has advised on many “industry-firsts” and has assisted sponsors with the structuring and launch of new private market solutions as well as with related negotiations.
Andrea has also advised government bodies and regulators on the legal and regulatory competitiveness of their financial services regulatory frameworks.
Andrea has over ten years of experience advising alternative asset managers in private practice and in-house at Amundi (Alternative Investments), Credit Suisse (Investment Banking) and the European Commission (Asset Management Regulation).
As a former member of the legal team at the European Commission, he has advised regulators and the industry on the implementation of the AIFMD, the UCITS Directive and other key pieces of asset management regulation in the EEA (and its impact on third countries), including on developing an EU legal framework for the “retailisation” of private funds.
