Vishal Patel is an experienced, English law qualified, technology and data lawyer in the Digital Business team at Simmons & Simmons, supporting and delivering solutions for clients across the globe (including, the UK, Middle East and various Emerging Markets).
Recognised by Legal 500 as "proficient in regulatory technology matters," Vishal is a specialist in the TMT sector, where he has assisted international technology providers, online platforms, video game publishers and developers, international telcos and businesses pivoting to tech with technology transactions / outsourcings, regulatory compliance, platform advisory matters and data privacy and commercialisation.
His experience includes handling complex outsourcings, software development, licensing and maintenance, the provision and procurement of cloud services, robotics products and services, digital twins and generative AI, supporting with data privacy governance programs and advising on direct-to-device satellite internet.
As a key member of the firm’s Emerging Technology Group, he has a particular interest and focus on key new technologies including artificial intelligence, robotics, AR/VR, digital twins and quantum technologies - he has moderated various panel sessions and is a contributor to the firm’s thought leadership on these topic areas. In addition, he is co-lead of the firm’s Gaming and Immersive Technology (GAIT) Group.
Since joining Simmons & Simmons in London in 2017 and relocating to the Dubai office in 2024, he has completed secondments to clients such as Booking.com, Meta, Monzo Bank, and WeWork.
