Consultation: Privately rented homes and MEES
On 7 February 2025 the government launched a consultation headed 'Improving the energy performance of privately rented homes: 2025 update'. The detail in the consultation is aligned with Labour's manifesto commitment to ensure that homes in the private rented sector meet increased Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) by 2030. The consultation is open until 2 May 2025.

Government response to Grenfell
The UK Government has issued its full Response to the Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 report, along with a press summary. Given the breadth of the Inquiry's Phase 2 report, the Response is also wide-ranging and should be consulted for full detail; but we summarise here some elements that may be of greater interest to developers and contractors / supply chain participants etc.

The Grenfell Inquiry Phase 2 report further added to the clarity, yet progress of remediation remains slow.
