Event

To mark International Women’s Day 2026 and the UN Women's theme – Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls – Simmons & Simmons and our Gender Balance Network invite you to London CityPoint for an evening of art, film and discussion on Tuesday 24 March 2026.

In collaboration with two of our pro bono charity partners Rape Crisis South London (RCSL) and The Schools Consent Project, we will explore how rights, justice and action intersect in the lived experiences of women and girls – and the role that law, education and advocacy can play in driving change.

The evening will feature a survivor-led art exhibition developed with RCSL, with pieces available for purchase during the event, offering guests an opportunity to directly support the vital work of RCSL, alongside a screening of Prima Facie, and a panel Q&A on the challenges and opportunities for meaningful progress.

About Prima Facie: Suzie Miller's award-winning play, starring Jodie Comer, first appeared at the Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End before transferring to Broadway. Comer plays a criminal defence barrister, skilled in rape cases, until she herself is sexually abused and has to go through the criminal justice system as a victim. The play exposes the shortcomings of the legal system which relies on clear, linear, non-traumatised storytelling as evidence of the truth.

Light snacks will be provided for the screening and the event will open and conclude with a drinks reception. This event is open to all Simmons clients and colleagues and will provide a brilliant opportunity for connection and discussion.

Timings (GMT):

  • 5.30pm - Welcome drinks reception with RCSL art exhibition
  • 6.30pm - Private screening of 'Prima Facie'
  • 8.10pm - Reflection break with light refreshments
  • 8.30pm - Q&A session
