International law firm Simmons & Simmons has strengthened its Middle East tax offering with the appointment of Peter Dylewski as a Partner, based out of its KSA office.
Joining from a Big Four firm, Peter is a highly regarded tax practitioner with more than 20 years' experience focused primarily on the financial services and energy sectors. He advises financial institutions, asset managers, fintechs and insurers as well as major energy businesses across the Middle East region – with a particular specialism in VAT, real estate transaction tax, tax governance and disputes, e-invoicing and tax technology.
Peter has over 12 years’ in-house financial services tax experience from the London market and has served in regional and global financial services tax leadership roles at several Big Four firms giving him broad practical experience advising on complex tax matters across the Middle East and internationally. Alongside his financial services and energy practice, he advises on major infrastructure projects, corporate restructurings and contentious tax matters, as well as tax policy and governance. He also has significant advisory and in-house experience developing technology-enabled tax solutions.
Peter’s arrival will strengthen Simmons & Simmons' tax capabilities across the Middle East region, complementing the firm's existing corporate tax expertise. His hire follows the recruitment of Hannah Shipley earlier this year in Dubai as Head of the firm’s Middle East Tax team.
Peter’s appointment will also add significant financial services VAT capabilities and will support the continued growth of the firm's international indirect tax practice and its broader Financial Institutions and Asset Management & Investment Funds and Energy sector offerings.
Commenting on the hire, Muneer Khan, Middle East Regional Head, said: "Peter is a highly regarded tax specialist with deep technical expertise and an impressive track record advising financial and energy institutions across the region. His arrival significantly strengthens our tax offering in the Middle East, while complementing our existing strengths across financial services and asset management. We’re really pleased to welcome him to the team."
On joining Simmons & Simmons, Peter Dylewski commented: "Simmons & Simmons has an outstanding reputation in financial services and a growing presence across the Middle East, making it an excellent platform for my practice. I look forward to working seamlessly with colleagues across the firm's international network to further develop its tax capabilities and provide clients with integrated tax, regulatory and legal advice.”
