International law firm Simmons & Simmons is pleased to announce the appointment of Thierry Somma as the new Country Head of its Luxembourg office, effective 1 May 2025.
Thierry Somma succeeds Louis-Maël Cogis. Cogis will now focus on his legal practice within the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets sector, alongside his role as national practice group head of the Financial Markets team in Luxembourg.
A transactional lawyer at heart, Somma brings nearly two decades of experience advising international and domestic clients on key corporate law and M&A matters. Prior to his appointment as Country Head, he led the firm’s Luxembourg corporate and M&A practice, a role he will continue to hold alongside his new responsibilities as Country Head of the Luxembourg office and elected board member of the firm.
Senior Partner Julian Taylor commented: " Thierry’s appointment reflects our confidence in his leadership and his strong track record of delivering excellence for clients. His deep understanding of the Luxembourg market and collaborative approach make him ideally placed to guide the office into its next chapter, building on the great work that Louis-Maël did."
Thierry Somma added: "I am honoured to lead our talented Luxembourg team at such a dynamic time. Luxembourg’s role as a hub for finance, asset management, and innovation continues to evolve, and I look forward to working closely with our Partners, colleagues, clients, and business partners to build on our success and seize new opportunities."
Luxembourg remains a key market for Simmons & Simmons, offering a strategic gateway for international business and investment.
