International law firm Simmons & Simmons is advising the partners of insurance broker Griffiths & Armour on its sale to leading global professional services firm Aon.

This transaction, which is subject to regulatory approval, is the result of Griffiths & Armour's search for a trusted partner to help deliver and enhance its growth strategy, and aligns with Aon's own expansion plans.

Griffiths & Armour is particularly known for its specialist expertise in professional indemnity insurance, as well as its strength in general insurance broking.

The deal showcases Simmons & Simmons' expertise in the financial services sector and advising on M&A deals for regulated clients operating in multiple jurisdictions.

The Simmons team advising Griffiths & Armour was led by corporate partner David Hicks with support from Kim Farrar and other members of the UK corporate team and David Brangam and Jennifer Watters on Irish corporate matters.

The Corporate team worked as part of a cross-practice, multi-disciplinary team across financial services regulatory, insurance, employment, tax, incentives, pensions, competition, IP, litigation and real estate, including UK financial services regulatory partner Alex Ainley,  Irish financial services regulatory partner Derek Lawlor, insurance partner Jonathan Thorpe, corporate tax partners Zoe Arnautov and Martin Shah,pensions partner Edward Smith and competition partner David Trapp.
