International law firm Simmons & Simmons advised FTSE-listed BT Group Plc on the sale of its Irish data centres business to NASDAQ-listed Equinix.
BT Group Plc has reached agreement with Equinix on the sale of BT’s datacentre business in Ireland, which includes two datacentres in CityWest and Ballycoolin, County Dublin. The sale is expected to complete during the first half of 2025, subject to competition and regulatory clearance.
The deal forms part of BT’s asset-light strategy internationally and includes a transition away from owning and operating datacentre facilities, towards partnering with globally scaled organisations.
The cross-border Simmons & Simmons team was led by partner and Head of Corporate at Simmons Dublin, David Brangam, with assistance from Alex Brown and Steph Featherstone in the UK.
Commenting on the deal, David Brangam said "We were delighted to continue our partnership with BT on this transformative cross-border carve-out deal in the digital infrastructure space."
Rui Pereira, M&A director at BT commented “It has been a pleasure working together with the Simmons & Simmons team on this important digital infrastructure transaction”.
